The Auxiliary of the APWU is committed to supporting the Union and its principles while striving locally to support its efforts to build a stronger membership through family activities and community oriented events.

The Omaha Area Local Auxiliary supports the following projects/events throughout each year:

Two Can Do Food Drive

From April to April of each year, the Omaha Area Auxiliary, in combination with the Omaha Area Local, conducts the Two Can Do food drive. The Two Can Do is a collection of monies throughout the year, which are provided to the host Local of the Annual Nebraska Postal Workers Union State Convention. The food pantry and/or designated charity for the less fortunate of the host city is the benefactor of this annual food drive.

Share Bears

At each month's general membership meeting, and through raffles/donations, the Auxiliary collects monies for the purchasing of stuffed bears. These stuffed bears are given to the Police and/or Fire Department to give to childern suffering through traumatic events.

Omaha Area Local Annual Picnic

For years, the Auxiliary has lended support to the Local in the planning and execution of the annual picnic.

The Annual Jerry Lewis Telethon

Each year, the Auxiliary has joined with the Omaha Area Local to support the Jerry Lewis Telethon, assisting in processing pledges in the mail room and manning the phone banks when needed.

Annual Omaha Area Local Christmas Party

The Auxiliary assists in the planning and support of the Annual Christmas Party. From assisting in the cost for room rental at the Western Heritage Museum to the purchasing of candy and toys for the gift bags, to food preparation, to the decoration and event planning, the Local Auxiliary has historically championed this event in support of the Local.

Valentine's Day Bake Sale

The Auxiliary has established the tradition of hosting a Valentine's Day bake sale at the Local's February General Membership meeting.

In addition to providing support in these annual events, the Omaha Area Local Auxiliary provides support to all other events held during any particular year by the Omaha Area Local.

The Omaha Area Local Auxiliary is on the move! Through a focus on organization, the Local Auxiliary has significantly grown over the past two years. Anyone can be a member of the Auxiliary, including members of the Local! Annual dues are currently just  dollars per year.

Membership benefits:
Auxiliary members are entitled to attend the above listed annual events and other events sponsored by the Omaha Area Local, APWU.  Auxiliary members are able to use the Kenneth D. Wilson Union Hall at no charge.

Organizion Structure

Local Auxiliary members are eligible for election to Local, State and National Offices, as well as attendance at State and National Conventions.
